The intent is to develop the student’s ability to perform on a musical instrument in situations such as concerts, civic events, parades, and shows of all types. Musical skills will be improved so as to prepare the student for a possible career in music. Capability will be developed for solo performances as well as ensemble playing in all
categories and styles of music.
For Colorguard, these expectations follow along as performance ability and musical understanding of
performance.

piano
This course provides the fundamentals of music taught through the medium of the piano. This is a year-long (2 semester) course.
Required Text: Alfred’s Basic Library, Book I, Alfred Publishing Company
stage band
This course is designed for the purpose of studying, rehearsing and performing standard and experimental jazz repertoire. Required rehearsals and performances may be scheduled outside of the school day. Students may have to provide their own instrument and attire. Outside fundraising may be scheduled throughout the year, and participation is required.
